March 8th is a day of celebration, commemoration, and also of struggle and transformation.
History is conceived and progresses thanks to the courage and complicity of the combined strength of thousands of brave women who throughout human history have sown unity in diversity and fought daily for gender equality.
TODAY millions of women around the world will take to the streets for and because of the need to continue moving towards a society free of gender gaps.
What does this have to do with yoga?
During the practice of Yoga, the intention will always be to return to the center, where the body is felt, listened to, and given space to speak the truth.
Both men and women belong to a generational, cultural, and territorial history that shapes our cells, our emotions, and our patterns
Returning to our bodies also requires questioning and feeling the system we carry within us and that we know as "our own".
According to Jiddu Krishnamurti, the influential Indian philosopher, orator, and writer, he warned us:
"Culture, organized religion, politics, and education encourage repetition, obedience, and entertainment to prevent us from experiencing the deep stillness where truth arises."
His teaching focused on direct self-observation and he maintained that change in society occurs through a deep, internal transformation of each individual.
Our body, like our mind, needs perceptual space.
Slow rhythm, surrender to Being, aimless attention, holding without demanding, experiencing for pleasure, feeling without judging, creating and playing. Receiving and allowing love to flow in our blood
Without contemplation the human brain survives, with contemplation it returns home, the body in short.
From Namastecita we invite you to take some time to set your intention for your daily Yoga practice on this day where we remember the origins of the date and its process, which moves us and also strengthens us , our mothers, grandmothers and ancestors.
I invite you to create a pleasant space where you can express yourself freely and feel comfortable.
Put on some music with the sound of flowing water to connect with your emotions, light some incense you like, a candle that ignites strength and creativity, and anything else you feel you need for your practice today...
We were taught that softness is weakness and that surrendering is giving in. Today, I want to invite you to shift the focus of this practice from trying to "do the right pose" to moving with grace and expression, letting your inner feminine energy guide each transition. By combining breath, sound, and fluid movement.
Begin in Sukhasana position (seated posture with legs crossed), place your hands on your legs with your palms facing down and begin to feel your body, your breath, the rhythm, the quality of your thoughts, ask yourself: how do I feel? what emotion do I feel? can I feel it?
Now, if you can, close your eyes and pay attention to your breathing. Start massaging yourself from the top of your head to the tips of your toes.
Rub yourself, pinch yourself, go at a gentle pace or a very fast one, choose your paths and work your way down from your spine, face, neck, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands, chest, abdomen, back, buttocks, legs, feet with as much precision as you can at this moment
Now, when you finish, you will do it at your own pace, in your own way, and with care (it's best to go gently and in comfortable ranges of motion for joint movement without straining).
Neck in circles, shoulders too, the chest, then add your whole torso and finally with your whole body (in the way that is allowed) lifting the buttocks and legs off the mat (do the amount that you feel at the moment, at the intensity that you feel too)
Now we stop the movement and begin to pay attention to our body in areas as we did a little while ago with the massages, this time simply bringing the attention and intention of relaxing the body and "giving it back" to the earth downwards...
I relax my scalp.....,,
When I feel I'm finished, I focus solely on my breathing and inhale for 4 counts, exhale for 8 counts, repeating this about 12 times or until I feel the urge to move again.
And now it's time to start wrapping this up...
Massage your temples from the center outwards, on both eyebrows, as slowly and gently as you can, as if you were caressing a baby or something very fragile and precious to you.
You will continue in this way when you feel comfortable up to your throat and you will make the same gesture
in the heart
And finally, in the place where our womb is located, dedicating love, gentleness, listening (silence to listen) and simply observing what comes to our thoughts, sensations, memories and give them to the earth by bending your torso as far as is comfortable and giving thanks for this moment of intimacy in this time space that we have been given to live.
When you feel ready, open your eyes, give yourself a long, strong hug, and create a life where pleasure and tranquility are rights. And FREEDOM.
